Suspicious Purchase on Your Account

Last updated

Someone calls and says they're from your bank, your card company or an online shop like Amazon. They tell you that someone has made a large purchase with your account. To "stop" the purchase, you're told to give your card details, read out a code or identify yourself with BankID. In reality, it's you who approves the scammers' purchase or login.

Warning signs

  • The call is unexpected and is about a purchase you don't recognise.

  • You're asked to read out a code from a text message or use BankID to "stop" something.

  • You're asked for your card number or the security code on the back of the card.

  • The person says the money will disappear if you don't act right away.

How do you avoid this?

  • Hang up and check for yourself in your banking app whether there's a strange purchase.
  • Never read out codes from text messages or apps to anyone else.
  • Only use BankID when you started the login yourself.

Has this happened to you?

  • Call your bank right away and block your cards and BankID. Tell them if you've read out codes or signed anything.
  • Report it to the police at polisen.se or call 114 14.
